August 10, 2026

Toronto, ON – August 10, 2026 – Toronto, ON – Lactalis Canada, the Canadian dairy leader behind iconic brands like Cracker Barrel, Black Diamond, Balderson, Astro and Lactantia and a subsidiary of France-based Lactalis Group, is proud to be recognized with two 2026 Canadian GrocerImpact awards in the Sustainability and Community Service categories:

  • Sustainability Award for Lactalis Canada’s Decarbonization Partnership with SOFIAC

Through a partnership with SOFIAC (Société de Financement et d’Accompagnement en Performance Énergétique) Lactalis Canada has advanced energy efficiency and decarbonization initiatives at its Victoriaville and Laverlochère, Quebec operating facilities. This investment reduces energy consumption by approximately 11% and lower greenhouse gas emissions by 28%, avoiding an estimated 5,600 tonnes of CO₂e annually. The project also includes a winter peak demand management strategy that will further improve energy efficiency during periods of high demand. • Community Service Award for P’tit Québec’s P’tits projets pas si p’tits Campaign

Since 2021, Lactalis Canada’s P’tit Québec brand has been helping strengthen communities across Quebec through its P’tits projets pas si p’tits campaign, which revitalizes shared community spaces and helps bring people together. In 2025, the initiative supported the transformation of the basement of Saint-Léonard-de-Portneuf’s church into a fully equipped collective kitchen. Designed as a welcoming gathering place, the new space enables residents to connect, learn, cook and share meals together, helping foster community ties for years to come.
